Looking towards the recent interest in reactive glaze qualities, Smith&Brown developed a number of prototypes on upright forms as a brief to sit alongside flatware glazed plates. Rather than copying the glazes, we looked at how qualities of complexity, movement and fading imagery could compliment the flatware, with edges softening to reveal the underlying bone china, similar to the way that a glaze ‘breaks’ over features.
